SWEET SUCCESS FOR GOSPEL GIRL

GOSPEL GIRL was on song as the filly marked her debut with a dazzling display at Doomben.

Described as “a real work in progress” by Tony Gollan, GOSPEL GIRL repaid the faith and patience her trainer has shown in her with a strong win in Wednesday’s Maiden Plate (1200m).

The daughter of Epaulette had been solid rather than spectacular in two trial outings, but showed she could be a real raceday horse with a professional performance which earned her connections a winner’s cheque for $22,000 plus $15,750 in QTIS bonuses.

James Orman showed why he is currently Queensland’s best rider with a super steer aboard GOSPEL GIRL, whom we purchased for $52,500 at the 2022 Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale.

“This filly has been a real work in progress, but she was pretty good today,” said Gollan.

“We’ve kept at her and she’s kept improving little by little. Particularly over the last couple of weeks she seems to have turned a corner, I wasn’t sure how she would handle the raceday experience but she acquitted herself very well.

“Jimmy gave her a great ride, and when he asked her for an effort she really responded. It was great to get the job done with her and there should be plenty of improvement to come with her.”
