SKIESTHELIMIT kicked off her prep in the best possible style with a very professional win at Hawkesbury on Wednesday.
Two nice trials had suggested the filly had furnished and matured ahead of her autumn campaign, and so it proved as she powered home under Kerrin McEvoy in the Maiden Handicap (1000m).
Despite testing track conditions, the daughter of Maurice was fleet of foot in the closing stages to score by a length and collect a winner’s cheque for more than $25,000 including bonuses.
“The win didn’t surprise me, because she gave me a good feel when I rode her last prep,” said McEvoy.
“I knew she had trialled up well coming into today, and she’s got a great attitude because she really wants to please you. She applies herself to the task which is all you can ask.
“David was a little bit worried about the ground this morning, but it’s probably on the better side of heavy and she got through it well.”
