VAPORIZING SCORES DOMINANT FIRST-UP WIN

After scoring his second career win at the Gold Coast last Saturday, VAPORIZING will step-up to midweek metropolitan level for his next start with trainer Tony Gollan targeting the Doomben meeting on Wednesday, 1 September.

Gollan was suitably impressed by our boy’s first-up performance in the Benchmark 62 Handicap (1100m), where he weaved a passage from the back of the field under a peach of a ride by Anthony Allen.

The son of Wandjina will stay at the same trip for Wednesday week’s Benchmark 65 Handicap, which will mark VAPORIZING’s first run in the city.

Provided he can draw well, Gollan is confident he can match motors with his rivals in the $35,000 contest.

“Going into last week’s race I wasn’t sure what sort of run we were going to get, and if I thought he was going to be last coming round the turn I would’ve been very panicky,” he said.

“But Anthony handled it very well, and made his way through the field nicely. He was really strong late, which was so important to see.

“He did a great job and he pulled up really well, he’s been nice and bright so after an easy few days we’ll now look to build towards his next race, which is most likely to be at Doomben on Wednesday week.

“The Benchmark 65 over 1100m should be perfect for him so provided he draws well, off what we saw last Saturday he should be very well suited by a race like that.”

Congratulations on the win to our partners in VAPORIZING: Mr S N Gillard, Mr M N Waters, Mrs K Waters, B2 Racing, Mr P J Child, Mr C R Filer, Frazer Racing, Mr A M Hall, Mr M Hutchinson, Mr J McPhillips, Mr J R Musty, Mr T G Musty, Mr T J Williams, Mrs C Armstrong, Mr C D McGuire, Ms S Kemister, 2K Colts Club 1, Mr C Barnes and Mrs K Price-Barnes.
