VAPORIZING took our partners on a white knuckle ride before registering his third win at the Sunshine Coast last Friday night.
After missing the kick and finding himself at the back of the field, VAPORIZING had to weave through traffic but fortunately the gaps opened up at the right time for jockey Ryan Maloney, and both horse and rider were brave enough – and quick enough – to take them.
Trainer Tony Gollan is still weighing up his options with the son of Wandjina, who took his career earnings past $85,000 after earning his second win for Queensland’s leading trainer.
Wherever he heads next, however, VAPORIZING will be kept at the shorter trips to make the most of his explosive finish.
“It was a good win, especially as he got right out the back again,” said Gollan.
“Every time I think he’ll jump well and go forward he gets back, and every time I think he’ll get back he jumps well and is on pace.
“So I’m still working him out but it was a very patient ride by Ryan. He rides through a field well and took plenty of shortcuts, and the horse was too good for them near the line.
“I’m positive 1000 metres is his go, or 1100 metres depending on the track. There are a couple of nice options coming up for him, but wherever we head he’ll stay in that distance range.
“It was a bit more nail-biting than I would’ve liked, but a good win nonetheless and hopefully he can build from here.”
