BINDI’S CHOICE is off to the paddock for a well-earned spell after a super first racing prep which produced two wins and almost $60,000 in prizemoney for our partners.
The $35,000 purchase has been a real revelation, with her four-length maiden win at Kembla Grange in February the highlight of her autumn campaign.
Following back-to-back wins, trainer David Pfieffer felt she deserved the chance to step up to Group company in last Saturday’s PJ Bell Stakes at Randwick.
And whilst the drop back from 1400m to 1200m saw her run off her feet in the early stages of the Group 3 contest, she battled home with her trademark courage to just miss out on the prizemoney places.
The heavy surface also played against our girl and after five runs, Pfieffer pulled the pin on her prep and she will now spend the next four weeks putting her hooves up.
“She pulled up well from her run on Saturday, which was a solid effort,” he said.
“She probably didn’t quite have the speed to go with them in the early stages, but considering the massive jump in grade I thought she held her own and was unlucky not to finish in the top 10. She’s still had a very good preparation, so we’ll look to give her a month in the paddock before bringing her back in to work.”
Congratulations to our partners, hopefully BINDI’S CHOICE can continue to build on the solid foundations she has laid so far.
