SHIFFRIN SHOWS PLENTY OF FIGHT

SHIFFRIN made it a happy start to the week for our partners when she extended our hot streak with a gutsy maiden win at Bathurst on Monday.

The drop back in grade did the trick as the Supido filly showed plenty of late dash at her third career start despite not getting any favours in the run.

SHIFFRIN began slowly and after being shuffled to the back of the pack, jockey Grant Buckley made his move rounding the turn.

The 3YO had to cover plenty of ground, but after straightening she let down very impressively and just reeled in the runaway leader to win by a nose and record our third victory from our last five starters.

“When I spoke to David (Pfieffer) in the morning, he told me to get the horse into a comfortable rhythm and keep her away from traffic, because she’s still learning her trade,” said Buckley.

“She was really genuine and even though she wobbled about a bit in the straight, she’s definitely heading in the right direction.”

The victory earned her partners a share in $19,575, and whilst she still has plenty of improvement there’s no doubting the filly has some raw ability.
