KING KAPA edged his career prize money close to the $150,000 mark as he registered a hat-trick of wins with a breakthrough Saturday Metropolitan victory at Doomben.
The Tony Gollan trained four-year-old continued his rise through the grades since returning to Queensland, scoring an effortless win in the Class 3 Plate.
KING KAPA found a nice position early and jockey Ryan Maloney guided him to a comfortable 2.27 length victory.
Adding further merit to the performance was the face Gollan believes there’s still room for improvement.
“He still just crabbed around the corner a bit on his wrong leg, he’s still not the finished product yet, but he put them away and won quite easily…He’s a pretty promising sort of horse,” said Gollan.
KING KAPA will now likely have a 14 day turnaround before stepping up to tackle Class 6 company over 1200m at Eagle Farm.
“We'll keep him in the stable, keep him in his routine and look to head back and do it all again in a fortnight's time at Eagle Farm,” said Gollan.
All Hail KING KAPA!
