KOBESTAR PRIMED TO CLIMB FOUR PILLARS

Despite drawing the car park in The Four Pillars, our partners in KOBESTAR will still feel like it’s Christmas Eve as our boy prepares for the biggest race of his life tomorrow.

Up to 10,000 spectators are expected to flock to Rosehill for tomorrow’s rich Golden Eagle Day, and we’re all excited to have a runner on such a big occasion – especially in a new race worth $700,000.

While barrier 18 is far from ideal, the booking of Tommy Berry is a big plus as the gun hoop has built a great association with KOBESTAR, piloting him in both his career victories including a last-start win at Gosford which put the son of Star Witness firmly on the radar of Four Pillars slot-holders.

Tommy will have to be at his brilliant best to maintain his 100% record from the widest gate, but on the plus side KOBESTAR will carry four kilos less than his last start – and his co-trainers Rob and Luke Price couldn’t have him in any better condition.

“We’re really happy with him, he’s had a great week,” said Rob, whose Count De Rupee is a live chance in the feature race of the day, the $7.5 million Golden Eagle.

“He worked by himself on the course proper on Tuesday morning, and he was very good. Obviously the barrier gods haven’t been kind so we’ll have to settle back from that gate, but we’re expecting it to be a high-pressure race which should suit and we’re just going to need luck at the right time.

“He’ll be strong very late, he’s well over the odds and we’re expecting him to run well. His track rider reckons he’s absolutely flying, and whatever he does on Saturday we’re going to have some fun with him moving forward.”

We wish the best of luck to our partners in KOBESTAR on what promises to be a huge day.
