The weekend started early for our partners when KINTAMANI powered home to break his maiden at the Sunshine Coast on Friday.
Off the back of an impressive trial at Doomben last month, the son of Headwater kicked off his winter campaign and promptly bolted in thanks to a super ride by apprentice Tahlia Fenlon.
The pair saved ground on the rail and when Tahlia asked our boy for an effort, he responded in style to break through at start number seven.
The explosive finish was apt given he is named after a district in Bali famous for its volcano, and the $27,000 winner’s cheque (including QTIS bonus) provided a handy return for our partners.
“He did everything right,” said Tahlia.
“I was sitting behind the leaders and thought I’d ride for luck, fortunately the fence opened up and he kept kicking. He gave me a really good feel, and I think he’ll get over further because he was very relaxed in the run.”
Many congratulations to his owners, we hope some of them took the $26 that went up when the betting markets opened yesterday!
