It's a huge occasion for our partners tomorrow as talented 2YO colt KING KAPA contests the $250,000 Group 2 Spirit Of Boom Classic (1200m) on Doomben 10,000 Day.
After an eye-catching debut win at Grafton where he ran his rivals ragged, KING KAPA faces an acid test as he steps up in grade against some quality two-year-olds from four different states.
Despite the step-up in class, the team at Edmonds Racing are confident KING KAPA can acquit himself well and he is in very safe hands with one of the country’s most experienced jockeys in the saddle in Glen Boss.
“He was ultra impressive on debut,” said Trent Edmonds.
“He ran a faster time than the older horses over the same distance that day, so he’s obviously got plenty of speed.
“He’s drawn awkwardly, so he’ll have to use his speed from the gates to get into a good position. It’s a very tricky race and he’s at each way odds, but he’s going very well so we’re going to give him his chance.”
The colt holds entries for some of the feature 2YO races later in the carnival, but Toby and Trent will see how he comes through tomorrow’s run before committing to any future plans.
Best of luck to our partners in KING KAPA on what shapes as a big day at Doomben tomorrow.
