JETTY jumped out of the ground to win at Eagle Farm on Saturday and will now target the $2 million QLD Jewel Raceday on March 18.
Our bargain buy collected $48,000 in prizmoney and took his career earnings past $365,000 after successfully meeting the challenge up in grade to win the Open Handicap (1200m).
The five-year-old got back early in the race and was almost last at the 350m, but hoop Mark Du Plessis navigated him to the outside and he quickened nicely, storming home over the last 50m to claim victory.
Trainer Chris Munce was certainly pleased with the first-up performance, as our $50,000 yearling purchase added another notch in his belt.
“With the 52kg on his back he was certainly very strong through the line,” said Munce.
“It was a big step up. He likes this track and fresh…He was very calm today, and by his standards he was very well behaved.”
In claiming his seventh career win, the son of JET SPUR will now focus on a $150,000 race on QLD Jewel Raceday at Doomben.
“It was a tough win and he’ll go to the QTIS meeting on the 18th, a three-year-old and up over 1350m, it’s worth a bit of money so he’ll go to that meeting”, said Munce.
“As we know he only improves as he gets into his prep. I’m really proud of this fellow and he’s turned into a good genuine galloper.”
It wasn’t only connections who were enjoying Jetty’s performance with punters welcoming the double figure odds available for the win.
We look forward to the 18th March!
Congratulations to all our owners.
