JETTY bounced back to his old self with a gallant second at Eagle Farm on Wednesday, making it a win and two seconds for the Strong Bloodstock team from our past three starters.
The son of Jet Spur looked likely to claim a third career win when he hit the front under Andrew Mallyon in the QTIS Three-Year-Old BM70 Handicap (1400m) but he just peaked on his run late on and was run down by the eventual winner in the shadows of the post.
Despite being denied a first win since last December, the performance was still very encouraging and shows that JETTY is building towards his best form with each run this preparation for trainers Toby and Trent Edmonds.
JETTY pocketed $8,700 in prizemoney and bonuses for his runner-up finish, which was the fifth minor placing of his career. That took his overall earnings to $169,250 – more than five times his $30,000 purchase price.
Here’s hoping it’s onwards and upwards from here for our partners in JETTY.
