HOME COMFORTS SHOULD BENEFIT BEFANA

Shortly before COOL INTELLIGENCE’s run up north, BEFANA gets the weekend’s action underway for our partners when she lines up in the Fillies and Mares Class 2 Handicap at the Gold Coast.

Provided at least two horses are scratched from the 1100m contest, the 4YO mare will step out on her home track looking to secure her second career win.

Premiership-winning rider Baylee Nothdurft, who recently returned from an extended break, will steer the daughter of Better Than Ready, who was scratched from 1200m races at Casino and the Sunshine Coast after drawing awkwardly.

In contrast, tomorrow’s barrier draw has been much more favourable and she will jump from gate two, provided she gets a run.

“A soft barrier and Baylee Nothdurft in the saddle looks like a good recipe for her,” said trainer Trent Edmonds.

“It’s probably not the strongest race on paper, so I’d like to think she’ll be pretty competitive if she gets a run.”

Best of luck to our partners in BEFANA.
