FRESH VAPORIZING SET TO FIRE AT THE FARM

Following a short freshen-up, in-form VAPORIZING will go in search of his fourth career win when he steps up to Saturday Metropolitan level for the first time in tomorrow’s Benchmark 75 Handicap (1000m) at Eagle Farm.

After two wins and three minor placings from his last five starts, our son of Wandjina heads into tomorrow’s 1000m contest in fine fettle and gets the services of Steph Thornton for the first time.

The pair will jump from barrier two in the six-runner field and, whilst his stablemate Shamaton is the odds-on favourite, trainer Tony Gollan is still confident our boy can run a big race.

“His work on Tuesday was great, I worked him solo as I think it suits him particularly at the 1000 metres on this big track,” he said.

“He should get a beautiful run, hopefully he drops back on the fence behind the leaders with a bit of cover, so that Steph can bide her time and get him in the clear inside the last 300m. We know he’s a strong horse at the 1000 metres and we also know that he handles the Eagle Farm track. The key to him is getting him to relax mid-race, so that he can have the last shot at them.

“He’s well weighted, well drawn and well placed in this race, so he’s certainly going to be right in the finish.”

We wish the best of luck to our partners tomorrow.
