EXTREME FREEDOM IS OFF THE CHAIN

EXTREME FREEDOM showed great tactical versatility when he scored back-to-back wins at Kembla Grange yesterday.

The 4YO led all the way when he returned to the winner’s enclosure over 1300m at Hawkesbury at his last start, but came from behind when he stepped up to 1500m in the Benchmark 64 Handicap.

Having sat off the speed, regular rider Brock Ryan revved EXTREME FREEDOM’s big engine as the pair approached the 400-metre mark.

The son of Turn Me Loose responded in impressive fashion to run down the leaders and pull clear in the closing stages to score by a length.

“It didn’t go to plan early, he stepped a little bit slow and there was plenty of speed on,” said Ryan post-race.

“So we had to go to plan B, and he settled into a really nice rhythm. We backed off the tempo and he got up on the bridle, so I had to pop him three deep and keep him in that rhythm.

“We rolled into the race quite early, but he showed good tenacity late. I thought he might be vulnerable, but he kept finding for me. The horse is going great, and hopefully he can keep progressing.”

The $20,550 winner’s cheque took his career earnings past $75,000, many congratulations to our partners: Maxon, The Speculators, Mr J G Byrne, Mr D Condon, Mr X Rigotti, Mr M A Spagndo, Mr J D Johnston, K C M B, Shouldwegeta, Mr A R Beresford, Mr T J Webster, Mr M J O’Neil, Mr R Cutrie, Mr A J Straney, Mr A Nunan, Mr M P Dignam, Mr B L Clarke and Last Minute Club.
