BAKUHATSU is a maiden no more after he registered his first win at Doomben’s midweek meeting.

BAKUHATSU translates as explosion in Japanese, and he lived up to the billing with a pretty impressive turn of foot in the Maiden Handicap (1110m).

The son of Spirit Of Boom had put the writing on the wall with a very encouraging effort at the Sunshine Coast in mid-January, and he showed further improvement from that run in his fifth career start.

With Robbie Fradd back in the saddle after riding him in his first two outings, BAKUHATSU broke well and settled just off the speed.

The 4YO hit the front at the 400-metre mark and just clung on for victory to pick up a cheque for $20,700.

Congratulations to our partners on the win.
