COOL INTELLIGENCE extended her impressive first-up record with a barnstorming last-to-first victory at the Gold Coast on Melbourne Cup Day.
With former Victorian Noel ‘King’ Callow in the saddle for the first time, COOL INTELLIGENCE arrived just in the knick of time to deny the well-backed favourite and notch the second win of her career.
The victory was made all the more impressive by the fact that our girl was the last to leave the gates and had to circle the field on the bend, before picking off her rivals in the home straight with a powerful finish.
It was the second time COOL INTELLIGENCE has made a successful return from a spell, with Tuesday's victory in the Fillies and Mares BENCHMARK 58 Handicap (1100m) taking her earnings past the $50,000 mark.
The performance suggests she is in for exciting preparation under the care of trainer Tom Button.
