It could be a big weekend for our partners in COOL INTELLIGENCE, with the filly set to chase the riches on offer in the $105,000 Northern Jewel QTIS 3YO Handicap at Mackay tomorrow.
In her third run for Sunshine Coast trainer Tom Button, COOL INTELLIGENCE has her sights set on the $61,000 first prize in one of regional Queensland’s feature winter races.
COOL INTELLIGENCE had her first look at Mackay two weeks ago, when she ran fifth in the QTIS Three-Year-Old Benchmark 65 Handicap over 1100m.
She was doing her best work late that day, so the step up to 1300m should suit but her cause hasn’t been helped after she drew the outside barrier in the 14-runner field.
However, if our partners were looking for an omen, the daughter of Nicconi also jumped from the widest gate when she won on debut for her new stable at the Sunshine Coast last month.
Jockey Adam Sewell, who had one winner and three minor placings at Mackay last Friday, takes the ride on COOL INTELLIGENCE for the first time.
