Bargain buy VEGAS RAIDER took his career prizemoney earnings a fraction shy of the $250,000 mark after he scored back-to-back wins with victory at Randwick-Kensington.
Having cost just $38,000 at the Inglis HTBA May Yearling Sale in 2021, VEGAS RAIDER has proved a real money-spinner for our partners as another bold front-running display paid dividends at Sydney’s midweek metropolitan meeting.
With Tommy Berry back in the saddle for the first time in 12 months, the son of Invader took command at the head of affairs in the Benchmark 72 Handicap (1000m).
Having relaxed nicely in front for Berry, VEGAS RAIDER let loose down the straight and held on gamely to register his third career win.
“He’s got a new lease on life with the change of tactics from the team,” said Berry.
“I remember trying to ride him quiet before, and he was a real handful. But he switched off well in front for me, which allowed us to get some nice cheap sectionals and from the turn he was always going to be hard to beat.
“It was an easy ride for me, and hopefully the win gives David a bit of a tonic because I know he’s been in hospital recently.”
It’s great to see the big boy starting to put it all together and fulfil his undoubted potential, many congratulations to our partners: Mrs T A Wolfgram, Miss R Cant, Oztag Racing, Mr A R Danks, Mr D Galinec, Benchmark Racing, Mr C Jones, Mr M J Johnston, Mr S Loggie, Star Harem, Mr A C Buxton, Mrs K V Buxton, Mr A Bullow, Mr A Geaitani, Mr J S Jankowski, Mr M Kamaratos, Mr J A Livingstone, Mrs A Y Livingstone and Mr G Beves.
