The Brinnand family celebrated a remarkable achievement recently, with Reliable Ruby’s victory at the Sunshine Coast marking their 17th winner with Strong Bloodstock.
We caught up with Mick Brinnand to talk to him about his family’s racehorse ownership journey.
HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED WITH STRONG BLOODSTOCK?
We first joined the team in 2018 and were hooked ever since. When you see your first ever horse win at nice odds on debut it has to be one of the greatest thrills. Also because my grandfather owned small shares back in the and and never made the winners circle. Since then we’ve grown our little family syndicate within the Strong Bloodstock team, now owning small shares in upwards of 10 horses seeing 17 wins now (whose counting).
HOW DOES THE FAMILY CELEBRATE A WIN?
Every win we get a little frame made up (the photographers do an outstanding job ) but the issue is now we are running out of space .. good problem to have I guess
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT RACING HORSES WITH STRONG BLOODSTOCK?
Affordability and communication is one of the main reasons is why I love the Strong Bloodstock team. I’ve been with a few other syndicates not going to name names but the boys at strong blood blow them out the park.
Blake and John are always quick to answer any questions and over the years we have attended multiple events within Strong bloodstock and have formed a friendship over our mutual love and passion for the sport often filled with plenty of banter and dribble.
Fortunately enough for us every horse we’ve ever owned has made the track and won a race at some point (touch wood).
WHAT WOULD BE YOUR FAVOURITE WINNER?
If you had to tell me my favourite winner it would definitely have to be a tie between TIPPING on debut just purely cause you’d never forget something like that. But you also can’t go past KING KAPA in first gear winning a class 6 by 3.5 last start and embarrassing the field
With a few handy ones in the stable now I look forward to what the next few years hold and hopefully we can all celebrate a group win in the not to distant future. We came close with King.
