A much improved trial at Randwick has EXTREME FREEDOM eyeing off a potential racetrack debut for trainers Rob and Luke Price.
The father and son training team and champion jockey Tommy Berry were very pleased with his performance after EXTREME FREEDOM won the 2YO Open Trial (1080m).
Having struggled on the bog track at Hawkesbury in his debut trial at the start of the month, the son of Turn Me Loose found Randwick’s Polytrack much more to his liking on Monday morning.
“He’s still learning his craft and is still very raw and new to it all, but it was a much improved effort from the big guy,” said Berry.
Despite showing coltish tendencies which may lead to him being gelded, the run has prompted Team Price to enter him for the 2YO Maiden Handicap (1400m) at Hawkesbury next Tuesday; although with more rain forecast in Sydney over the coming days, the weather may yet play a part in the decision.
Whether he heads to the races this prep or goes for a spell, we have always thought EXTREME FREEDOM would take time to mature so we probably won’t see the best of him until his 3YO season.
