BLAZEN BOOTS gave our partners a huge thrill as he broke through for his maiden success at Midweek Metropolitan level and then had to survive a protest at Eagle Farm on Wednesday.
The Chris Waller-trained 4YO has been showing plenty of promise at home without bringing his very best form to the races, and despite racing greenly once again, he fought all the way to the line to register his first win at career start number five.
As a son of renowned staying sire TAVISTOCK, BLAZEN BOOTS is bred to get over further ground in time and he needed every inch of the 1500-metre Maiden Handicap to eventually wear down the leader by the narrowest of margins under Jimmy Orman.
The drama didn’t end there, however, as the connections of the third placegetter lodged a protest, claiming interference in the straight. But the stewards found in our boy’s favour and our happy partners - which include Sky Racing’s Bernadette Cooper - were able to toast BLAZEN BOOTS’ first success in the winners’ room.
Many congratulations to Bernadette and her fellow owners: Bad Boys Racing, Mr B Hennock, Mr C Chapman, Mr C R Filer, Ms L N Jaques, Mr J Kennedy, Mr C M Schulz, Mudcrab, Mr A Pooley, Mr M J Quilter, Mr S k B Smith, Mr P C Sposato, Mr M D Leitch, Mr T E Te Keeti, Ms M Lillecrapp, Ms J Masters, Mrs C M Mayne and Showtime.
