BLAZEN BOOTS looks ready to kick off his racing career in the coming weeks after an eye-catching trial at the Gold Coast this week.
The son of Tavistock took to his home track for his first official tune-up yesterday morning, and despite the Heavy going and missing the kick, he powered to the line to win the 1000m trial eased down.
The 3YO gelding, who is under the care of Chris Waller, is set to make his debut in the next few weeks after jockey Jimmy Orman was suitably impressed with the feel he gave him.
“I was very happy with the way he trialled,” said Orman.
“He jumped a little bit tardy but he was able to muster some early speed, which meant I was able to bring him out to the better part of the track.
“The leader kicked off the corner but we were able to reel him in pretty easily, and he hit the line really nicely under a hold.
“I could see him starting off in a 1200 to 1400 metre race, sitting just off the speed and finishing off strongly.”
