ALL HAIL THE KING AS KAPA SCORES FIRST-UP

KING KAPA returned to his throne with a slick first-up victory for new trainer Tony Gollan at Doomben on Wednesday.

In a rewarding result for our partners, the four-year-old returned to the winner’s circle for the first time since winning on debut at Grafton as a two-year-old, snapping that drought in style with a breakthrough first Metropolitan victory.

The return to Queensland through our Strong Bloodstock trainer network reaped instant rewards for KING KAPA and Gollan believes it was exactly the type of result the horse needed after facing some stiff competition during his time in Sydney.

“He put them away well and I think he’ll derive a lot of confidence from that,” said Gollan.

“He’s been racing in good races in Sydney where he’s been all but the winner on several occasions. We all know confidence does wonders for horses and I think it’ll do wonders for this bloke.

“He hasn’t been far away from Stakes company down south and he won’t be far away here at all.”

Winning jockey Ryan Maloney went into the race with plenty of confidence after partnering the son of Capitalist in his recent barrier trials.

“It was good to see as he had been showing it in his trials and jump outs,” said Maloney.

“Once I got him in the clear it was just a matter of pressing the button and he lived up to his trials. He’s well above Class 1 level which he got today so he’s in good hands and well placed up here.”

Congratulations to our partners who have maintained the faith in our boy throughout the journey.
